Don’t move to Älmhult! You’ll just end up moving back a year or so later (like THREE of our friends who have tried it). Move closer if you must, but don’t go all the way.

Amy-enjoy your month-long US visit! Soak it all up. I’ll be packing up the twins for a holiday visit in about a week. Can’t wait! Here’s hoping we survive the plane ride. The boys love to run and race each other. It’s their new thing.

Rosie, does Diana have a baby? How old? Can’t wait to see you either and finally meet Archer!

Ellen and Sabine, the communal thing as seen in Together seems to me to be dead. Not that I’d want to live like that. I had enough hippy stews in college.

Sabine, if you come over and clean up Siggy’s vomit, I’ll have a spare minute to upload some more photos. Otherwise, I’ll show them in person.

Lisa, yes, if only so Sigrid can have a playmate. Although since right now I can’t imagine another child for another 20 years or so, I’m not sure how much fun she’d find it.

yes, communal childrearing does seem to make a lot of sense. have you ever seen together, the lukas moodysson film? it made me fantisize about time traveling back to early 80’s sweden, living in an informal commune, and having babies for whom abba was like a national anthem, a feel-good uniting force. not quite modern-day malmo, but still, you’ve chosen a pretty ideal place to raise a family. in any case, i was slightly disappointed by this entry, if only for it’s lack of photographic documentation– gaston, minja, siggy, and infant zoe together would have been guaranteed cute overload. oh well… can’t wait to see you next week!

Sweden used to be a veritable hot bed of communal living though. My older sister won a grant to go study just that 20 years ago.

Also, ah, babies and penicillin. Similar to giving it to a cat, minus the claws – sometimes.

My friend Diana just said virtually the same thing to me yesterday after hanging out all day with another friend and her same age baby. I also always noticed that when I was busy talking or doing things it was much easier to be with Archer than when I was sitting and staring at him waiting for us to figure out what to do next! Anyhow, I can’t wait to be one of those sets of arms in America, and to see Siggy and Archer playing together.
